The Kent and East Sussex Railway is a delightful 11.5-mile heritage railway running through the beautiful countryside of the Kent and Sussex Weald. The railway runs from Tenterden Town to Bodiam, home to the magnificent National Trust-owned Bodiam Castle, one of Britain’s most picturesque medieval castles.
The railway was originally part of a larger network connecting rural communities and has been lovingly preserved to maintain its vintage rural charm. The 50-minute journey passes through 5 stations, including the beautiful Northiam station, and traverses hop fields, orchards, and classic Wealden countryside.
The K&ESR operates an impressive fleet of vintage steam and diesel locomotives and is famous for its real ale trains, vintage vehicle rallies, and special events throughout the year. The Tenterden station includes an excellent museum and the headquarters of the railway.
