Bluebell Railway

Where vintage trains meet Sussex countryside

Region: South Type: Standard Gauge Era: Victorian

The Bluebell Railway is one of the finest heritage railways in Britain, preserving 11 miles of the Lewes to East Grinstead line through the beautiful Sussex countryside. Named after the flowers that carpet the surrounding woods each spring, the railway offers an authentic vintage railway experience.

The line runs from Sheffield Park through Horsted Keynes to Kingscote and East Grinstead, featuring one of the largest collections of preserved steam locomotives in the country, dating from the 1880s through to the 1960s. The railway is famous for its attention to period detail, with stations and rolling stock restored to their former glory.

Special events run throughout the year including dining trains, vintage vehicle rallies, and seasonal specials. The Bluebell Railway has also appeared in numerous films and television productions.
